Changing a PoE Device's Output from 12V to 5V: Can You Keep the Same Power Transformer? 2.4× Current, Auxiliary Winding and Same-Series 5V Parts | VOOHU
Changing a PoE camera or AP's isolated supply from 12V to 5V? At the same 13W, a 5V output delivers 2.4× the current of 12V, secondary copper loss rises about 4×, and the auxiliary winding voltage can fall below the controller's UVLO. Using the VOOHU selection table, we list same-power 12V, 24V and 5V parts in the EP7, EP13, EFD15 and EFD20 series, plus the circuit changes and a 10-point prototype checklist.
