The WHSG48008-3PG datasheet states both scopes: each channel supports 600 mA of DC current, and full channels support 1200 mA.
A Gigabit port is built from four differential pairs, and each differential pair is one channel; two channels, one out and one back, make a pairset, so a Gigabit port is two pairsets — which is exactly why the full-channel figure is twice the per-channel one. Budget port power from these two numbers as printed, and do not multiply 600 mA by the number of channels: the current follows the port's return loop, not a count of windings. The same convention applies across the100/1000 BASE-T range.
Because open-circuit inductance is measured under a DC bias, and the bias has to sit near the real supply operating point for the figure to mean anything.
The WHSG48008-3PG states 350 µH Min at 15 mA bias, where non-PoE parts usually state the same figure at 8 mA. When comparing PoE parts, read the bias condition alongside the inductance — comparing the numbers alone compares two different operating conditions. Bias conditions vary across the100/1000 BASE-T range.
Pins 1–24 are the chip side, named TCT1–TCT8 and TD1±–TD8±; pins 25–48 are the cable side, named CMT1–CMT8 and TX1±–TX8±, with Chip Side and Cable Side printed group by group on the drawing.
Orient the WHSG48008-3PG with pins 1–24 toward the PHY and 25–48 toward the RJ45 and both ports' pairs run straight through. The part is surface-mount, 27.80 × 12.20 mm and 7.50 mm Max high, supplied 350 pieces to a reel. Not every part in the100/1000 BASE-T rangeprints these side labels.
