The datasheet states IEEE 802.3af compliant performance with 350 mA current capability — the original PoE class, where the PSE port tops out at 15.4 W.
For 802.3at (PoE+) or 802.3bt the WHDG96503G is not the right part and a device rated for that class should be chosen instead. When budgeting port power, tell us the per-port current you are targeting and VOOHU will confirm the applicable scope against the current controlled document. Higher-class parts sit in the100/1000 BASE-T range.
Filter on two things, PoE class and temperature grade: the WHDG96503G is 802.3af / 350 mA rated for 0 °C to +70 °C, theWHDG96502PTGis 802.3at / 720 mA rated for -40 °C to +85 °C.
Both sit on the same 96-pin land pattern so the board does not change, but the swap crosses a class boundary on supply and a grade boundary on temperature.
Indoor four-port Gigabit equipment where the component temperature stays between 0 °C and +70 °C and port power is designed to IEEE 802.3af.
The WHDG96503G needs roughly a 28 × 29 mm square area on the PCB with more than 14.50 mm of clearance above it. Equipment that powers up below 0 °C, or that has to supply 802.3at and above, needs the wide-temperature or higher-current grade from the100/1000 BASE-T range.
