The WHSG50002P1 datasheet states that both ports support 4PPoE to IEEE 802.3bt, with a 1200 mA current capability. That line ties 1200 mA to "full ports" without saying whether it applies per magnetic channel, to one port's two channels combined, or across both ports, so we quote it as written rather than splitting it or multiplying by the port count.
When budgeting port power, tell us the per-port current and topology you are targeting and we will confirm the applicable scope against the current controlled document. Other options are listed in the10/100/1000 BASE-T range.
+70 °C is the ceiling for ambient plus the component's own heating, not an allowable ambient, so the usable ambient margin is tighter than it looks. The datasheet states explicitly that the operating range of the WHSG50002P1 includes component temperature rise, so a design cannot add a rise budget on top of a +70 °C ambient.
With both ports delivering power, self-heating is the dominant variable – measure the component temperature at the highest planned internal temperature and worst airflow. If the equipment has to power up below 0 °C this part does not apply, and a part rated to -40 °C is needed, though such a change may bring a different PoE statement and pin assignment and has to be re-evaluated.
The pins of the WHSG50002P1 are grouped in contiguous blocks: the first port uses MCT1 to MCT4 with their MX, TCT and TD nets, and the second port uses the MCT5 to MCT8 group.Taking the first channel, MCT1 is pin 49, MX1+ is pin 48 and MX1- is pin 50, with TCT1 on pin 2, TD1+ on pin 1 and TD1- on pin 3 on the opposite side.
Take pin numbers from this part's own schematic: theWHSG50015P0shares the 50-pin, 1.02 mm outline exactly but places MCT1 on pin 50 rather than 49, so the two cannot share a netlist.
