The WHSM24002TG suits industrial 10G data ports where the component temperature may fall anywhere between -40 °C and +85 °C.Typical uses are industrial switches, 10G uplinks inside outdoor enclosures and wide-temperature edge equipment. It is a single-port, non-PoE part, so the port has to be powered locally.
Note that -40 °C is the component's lower operating limit, not a demonstrated cold-start capability for the finished product – low-temperature power-up still has to be measured with the target PHY and cable. Other options are in the10G BASE-T range.
No. The datasheet assigns no DC balance current capability to the centre taps of the WHSM24002TG, so they cannot be used as a supply path.Terminate them according to the reference design for the target PHY.
Decide on temperature: take the WHSM24002TG for -40 °C to +85 °C, or theWHSM24002Gwhere 0 °C to +70 °C is enough and usually better on cost and availability.The two are electrically identical, and both quote common-mode rejection as -20 dB typ, below the -25 dB typ used by most parts in this range.
Switching between the two does not change the electrical design.
