The WHSQ24002TG suits industrial and outdoor 2.5G and 5GBASE-T ports where the component temperature may fall anywhere between -40 °C and +85 °C.Typical uses are industrial switches, multi-gigabit uplinks inside outdoor enclosures and wide-temperature edge gateways. It is a single-port, 24-pin SMD transformer with no PoE capability.
Note that -40 °C is the component's lower operating limit, not a demonstrated cold-start capability for the finished product – low-temperature power-up still has to be measured with the target PHY and cable. Other options are listed in the2.5G/5G BASE-T range.
No. The WHSQ24002TG does not support PoE: its datasheet gives the centre taps no DC balance current rating, so it must not be fitted to a port that draws power through the magnetics.Where a wide-temperature port also has to carry PoE current, theWHSQ24015-1PGcovers the same -40 °C to +85 °C range and specifies 720 mA per magnetic channel.
Decide on temperature: take the WHSQ24002TG for -40 °C to +85 °C, or theWHSQ24002Gwhen 0 °C to +70 °C is enough, where it is usually better on cost and availability. The two share package, suggested pad layout and pin-to-net mapping, and their insertion loss, return loss, crosstalk and common-mode rejection are identical.
The differences sit in two places worth checking: the WHSQ24002TG quotes 150 µH min open-circuit inductance against 200 µH min for the WHSQ24002G, and the storage ranges are not the same. A design with tight low-frequency return-loss margin should be recalculated with the figure belonging to the part being fitted.
