The WHSQ24302G stands 2.50 mm tall at most, over a 16.60 mm × 9.00 mm body, which makes it one of the low-profile packages in the single-port 2.5G/5G range.The conventional 24-pin package at the same data rate is 6.00 mm tall, more than double, so where a lid clearance is fixed, or the part has to sit between a daughter card and a backplane, a low-profile part is often the only one that fits.
The trade-off is a standoff of only 0.05 mm typical, so the WHSQ24302G sits almost flat against the board, leaving little room for post-reflow cleaning and little viewing angle for inspection. Confirm both against the line process when selecting it. Other options are listed in the2.5G/5G BASE-T range.
No. The datasheet of the WHSQ24302G assigns no DC balance current capability to the centre taps – there is no current item among its eleven electrical entries, so the taps cannot be used as a supply path.Terminate the centre taps as the reference design for the target PHY requires.
Note that the single-port 2.5G/5G parts which do publish PoE current, theWHSQ24702-1PTGand theWHSQ24706-2PTG, sit in the taller conventional package rather than the low-profile outline of the WHSQ24302G, so moving to one of them means redoing the layout. Where a port is both height-constrained and has to deliver power, send VOOHU the height limit, the steady current expected in each centre-tap path and the temperature range.
A reel of the WHSQ24302G holds 1500 pcs on a Ø330 mm reel.The conventional 24-pin package at the same data rate holds 350 pcs on a reel of the same diameter, so the thinner low-profile body carries more than three times as many parts per reel. That changes how often the line reloads and how a small pilot build is stocked.
