The two figures govern different things: operating temperature is the ambient range allowed while the part is powered, storage temperature the range allowed while it is not.
The WH16603T1 is rated -40 °C to +105 °C operating and -40 °C to +85 °C in storage. The practical consequence is direct: the part may run to the higher figure, but warehousing, transport and long unpowered periods should stay within the storage range — the operating figure cannot be used to justify storage conditions. Where a project genuinely exceeds it, give VOOHU the actual conditions for confirmation.

The WH16603T1 stands 2.50 mm Max, the same as the other low-profile parts, and its insertion loss, return loss, cross talk and common-mode rejection match the standard-height parts with no reduction. The real limit is that this height currently offers no high-isolation part and no PoE part: a design needing either has to move back to the standard height in the 10/100 BASE-T range, and the clearance budget has to widen accordingly.
That it is characterised without bias: the WH16603T1 states OCL as 350 µH Min at 100 kHz and 0.1 V, with no DC bias term.
Parts that carry PoE capability normally add a bias current to that line, because port power puts a steady DC component on the centre tap and the inductance figure only means something under bias. The WH16603T1 is therefore not intended for ports powered through the centre tap — for PoE, choose a part in the 10/100 BASE-T range that states a current capability explicitly.
