Eight copper gigabit ports
Each JL2308 part provides 8 ports at a 1G data rate, with copper ports listed from 10BASE-T upward. The optical port is NA, so every port runs on twisted pair.
Ethernet Interface Chip products
JL2308 provides eight gigabit ports aggregated to the host over QSGMII, in an LQFP128 package at 14 by 14 millimetres. Confirm the host offers QSGMII and enough bandwidth, then plan the layout for eight pairs and the serial lanes.

Series overview
The JL2308 8-port Gigabit Ethernet PHY is the copper front end for switches and routers whose SoC talks QSGMII, turning its host links into eight RJ45 gigabit ports. It also goes by octal gigabit PHY, QSGMII PHY or 8-port Ethernet PHY. Commercial and industrial grades come in a leaded LQFP128 package. The JL2388 series lists the same selector values, so compare their datasheets.
Each JL2308 part provides 8 ports at a 1G data rate, with copper ports listed from 10BASE-T upward. The optical port is NA, so every port runs on twisted pair.
QSGMII carries four gigabit ports per serial link, so check in the JL2308 datasheet how the eight ports map onto host lanes and what reference clock the design needs.
JL2308-PC is rated 0 °C to 70 °C for office switches and recorders, while JL2308-PI covers −40 °C to +85 °C for industrial switches and roadside cabinets.
It comes in an LQFP128 package (see the datasheet for body dimensions) with gull-wing leads, so solder joints can be inspected optically and reworked by hand. The selector lists no interface voltage, so take the supply rails from the datasheet too.
Applications
It suits any board where a QSGMII host needs a bank of copper gigabit ports.
Desktop, rack and smart switches built on a switch SoC use one JL2308 per eight front-panel ports, with the switch handling forwarding and the PHY handling the cable.
Plant, utility and traffic switches in outdoor or unheated cabinets use JL2308-PI, whose −40 °C to +85 °C rating covers cold starts and summer heat.
Network video recorders and PoE switches add eight camera ports behind a QSGMII host; PoE power comes from separate PSE controllers, not from the PHY.

Samples are available for evaluation, and selected parts are free of charge. Our FAE team will be glad to confirm the options for your project. When you request a quotation, give the part number, quantity per build and schedule, and we will confirm availability.
Send the part number and datasheet of the 8-port PHY you use now. Our FAE team compares host interface, port mapping, grade and package, reviews register, driver and layout differences, and suggests candidates to validate with samples before production.

FAQ
Where to buy, fiber uplinks beside the PHY and which design files exist.
Over QSGMII, a serial interface that carries several links on one pair rather than running eight parallel interfaces. Your host controller must provide QSGMII and enough aggregate bandwidth for eight gigabit links. Confirm both before selecting an eight port device.
Controlled impedance, length matching and a continuous reference plane under the serial lanes. It is a high speed serial link, so it is less forgiving than a parallel interface. Follow the datasheet layout guidance and verify link quality on a prototype board.
Both are eight port gigabit devices with QSGMII in an LQFP128 package at 14 by 14 millimetres and the same temperature grades. Feature level differences are defined by their respective datasheets, so send your requirement and our engineers will set out which differences apply.
Each copper port needs its own magnetics, either discrete LAN transformers or RJ45 jacks with integrated magnetics. Plan the board area and the panel arrangement early, and follow the device reference circuit for the centre tap connection on each port.
With a complete part number, send the part number, quantity, delivery region and the date you need it. If you are still selecting, send the host controller, confirmation that it provides QSGMII, the port count and the temperature range.

Not through the PHY itself, since its optical port is NA. Use a separate PHY on a spare host port, such as JL2201 with 1000BASE-X or JL4201 with 2500BASE-X, if your SoC offers the matching RGMII or SGMII interface.
Not on this page; the published file for each part is a PDF datasheet. Build the LQFP128 footprint from the package drawing in the JL2308 datasheet and confirm lead pitch with your assembler.
