Series overview
An EP7 PoE transformer is the transformer in the isolated DC-DC converter of a PoE powered device, turning port power into the device’s supply rail. It is also listed as an EP7 PoE power transformer or PoE PD transformer. Parts here run from 3 W to 15 W with 5 V, 12 V or 13 V outputs; for similar power in another core, see the EP10 PoE transformer page.
Listed power runs from 3 W on WHEP7089 to 15 W on WHEP7927, with ST0873WH at 10 W and ST0874WH, ST0871WH and ST-0880WHB at 12 W. Size from the measured load and startup peaks, with margin.
WHEP7089, ST0873WH, ST0874WH and WHEP7927 are listed for 12 V, ST0871WH for 13 V and ST-0880WHB for 5 V. A 13 V part is its own winding design, not a 12 V part with headroom.
Treat output current as a filter, not a continuous rating: WHEP7089 is listed at 0.25 A, ST0871WH, ST0873WH and ST0874WH at 0.41–1.0 A, WHEP7927 at 1.08–1.99 A and ST-0880WHB at ≥ 2 A. Confirm on the datasheet.
Each EP7 transformer has its own winding diagram and pin map, even where its power or voltage label matches another part. Check which secondary pins the drawing joins, and the polarity marks, before routing.
Applications
EP7 parts suit powered devices that need 3 W to 15 W from the converter.
Occupancy sensors, card readers and small IoT nodes draw little power from the port. WHEP7089, a 3 W EP7 flyback transformer with a 12 V, 0.25 A output, suits loads this small.
Fixed IP cameras and indoor access points often run on 12 V, which ST0874WH covers at 12 W; ST0871WH gives 13 V at 12 W where the board expects it.
Single-board computers and 5 V PoE splitters need a 5 V rail at higher current. ST-0880WHB is listed for 5 V at 12 W in the ≥ 2 A band, so review secondary copper loss early.

Already have a part number? Request samples or a quote.
Samples are available for evaluation, and selected parts are free of charge. Our FAE team will be glad to confirm the options for your project. For a quotation, send the part numbers and annual volume; typical lead time is 7–10 days.
To replace a PD transformer you use today, send its part number and datasheet. Our FAE team compares output rail, power, windings and footprint, then suggests EP7 candidates for you to validate with samples before production.
VOOHU is ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certified. VOOHU’s PoE transformers are RoHS and REACH compliant (third-party test reports). Since 2018 VOOHU has supplied more than 1,500 customers, including 150+ listed companies.
FAQ & related guides
Answers on manufacturing, power level choice and when to look beyond EP7.
Both diagrams label a 36–57 V input, with main-secondary labels of 5 V / 2.4 A and 12 V / 1.25 A, respectively. ST-0880WHB also lists 500 kHz. Start with the required rail, then check controller, windings, load and thermal conditions. Do not transfer one part's frequency or output label to the other.
No. EP7 is the family name; use the complete part's drawing to assess space. For example, the ST-0880WHB A1 drawing lists maximum A, B and C dimensions of 10.0, 10.5 and 9.0 mm. Read these with the corresponding views and check the land pattern, neighboring components and assembly space.
The family and voltage label are insufficient. Compare winding connections, parameter test conditions, pins and dimensions, and share the original circuit and datasheet. Your sales engineer can coordinate an FAE review of candidates, differences and sample-validation needs rather than treating a shared family as an automatic replacement.
The A1 drawing requires pins 5 and 6 to be connected together, and pins 7 and 8 together, for the documented secondary arrangement. It does not call for all four pins to be shorted together. Check the bottom view, polarity and current document revision, and review connections again when changing parts rather than applying this rule to all EP7 products.
For a known complete part number, request samples from the selector and tell your sales engineer the quantity, project stage and pricing needs. If the part is undecided, start with the application, required output and space constraints. Your sales engineer can coordinate the additional information needed for FAE review.
Yes. VOOHU manufactures the EP7 PoE transformers on this page in its own magnetics factory in Mianyang, China, alongside its EP10, EP13 and EFD core sizes. Each part has a published datasheet, 3D model and PCB footprint.
WHEP7089 is listed at 3 W for very small loads. ST0873WH is listed at 10 W and ST0874WH at 12 W, both in the 0.41–1.0 A band, while WHEP7927 reaches 15 W at 1.08–1.99 A. Choose the one that still has margin at your maximum load and ambient temperature.
When the load needs more than the 15 W listed for WHEP7927. EP13 PoE transformers are listed from 10 W to 30 W, with outputs from 5 V to 24 V. A new core means a new drawing and land pattern, so plan fresh samples.
