WHAL7060A Common Mode Chokes
WHAL7060A sits well up the current range, where thermal behaviour and mechanical mounting start to matter as much as impedance. Confirm the derated current at your ambient, then plan the clearance and any retention the assembly needs.

FAQ
Common mode choke questions engineers ask
Answers cover how the choke works, how to read impedance and where it belongs.
What should I check first on a high current choke?
Thermal headroom. Read the rated current and the temperature-rise conditions it was defined under, then compare those with the ambient inside your enclosure and the airflow you actually have. A part rated in open air can be well outside its envelope in a sealed box.
Does size bring mechanical constraints?
Yes. Larger bodies put more stress on the solder joints under vibration and shock, and they need clearance from neighbouring components and from the enclosure wall. Check the recommended land pattern and consider whether the assembly needs adhesive or mechanical retention.
How do I keep DC resistance losses manageable?
Read the maximum DC resistance, not a typical figure, and calculate the loss at your worst-case continuous current. Then check the resulting voltage drop against the rail tolerance and the heat against the enclosure's ability to shed it. Confirm both by measurement.
Will a larger choke always filter better?
No. More core material generally shifts the impedance peak lower in frequency. If your emission failure sits higher up, a larger part can perform worse at the frequency you care about. Compare the impedance curve at your failing band, not the headline peak.
How do I request samples or a quote?
With a complete part number, send the part number, quantity, delivery region and the date you need it. If you are still selecting, send the line current, the frequency band where your scan fails and the ambient temperature, and a sales engineer will confirm candidates.
