WHAL1211A Common Mode Chokes
WHAL1211A sits in the compact end of the power line range, suited to boards where the filter stage cannot take much area. Compare the impedance curve across the band your scan fails, then confirm rated current and DC resistance cover the load.

FAQ
Common mode choke questions engineers ask
Answers cover how the choke works, how to read impedance and where it belongs.
Where does WHAL1211A sit in the range?
It occupies the compact end of the power line family. Smaller cores generally carry less current and place their impedance peak differently from larger parts. Read the impedance at the frequency where your scan fails rather than comparing headline figures across different size bands.
How do I know whether the impedance is enough?
Identify the frequency band where your conducted emission measurement exceeds the limit, then read each candidate's common mode impedance at that frequency. A part with a higher peak elsewhere in the spectrum will not address your specific failure, however impressive the headline number looks.
What limits the current I can put through it?
The rated current is defined under stated temperature-rise conditions. Inside a sealed enclosure with limited airflow the usable figure is lower, so derate for the real ambient. Also check DC resistance, because the voltage drop at full load has to stay within the rail tolerance.
Can I swap WHAL1211A for another series?
Not without comparing the datasheets. Series naming indicates a family, not interchangeability. Compare impedance at your frequency, rated current, DC resistance, withstand voltage and the recommended land pattern, then re-run the emission scan on your own board after any change.
How do I request samples or a quote?
With a complete part number, send the part number, quantity, delivery region and the date you need it. If you are still selecting, send the line current, the frequency band where your scan fails and the board space available, and a sales engineer will confirm candidates first.
