65 V DC voltage rating
WHM0082VA is listed at 65 V DC. Keep the highest steady line voltage below it and confirm continuous ratings in the datasheet.
Protective Component products
D14 refers to the nominal fourteen millimetre disc diameter. The larger ceramic body absorbs more surge energy than a smaller disc of the same voltage class. Confirm the rated surge current at your waveform, and plan the failure behaviour before committing.

Series overview
A D14 metal oxide varistor is a nominal 14 mm zinc oxide disc across a power input that conducts heavily once a surge exceeds its turn-on level. It is also called a 14D varistor, 14mm MOV, disc varistor or VDR. WHM0082VA is listed at 65 V DC, with 135 V clamping voltage, 0.1 W rated power and a −40 °C to +125 °C range. See also metal oxide varistors (MOV).
WHM0082VA is listed at 65 V DC. Keep the highest steady line voltage below it and confirm continuous ratings in the datasheet.
The 135 V figure applies at the datasheet test current; the converter or TVS stage behind WHM0082VA must withstand it.
Rated power caps how often surges may repeat, not their size: for WHM0082VA, energy per transient times repetition rate must stay below 0.1 W.
WHM0082VA is rated −40 °C to +125 °C. Leakage rises with temperature, so a disc near a heat sink ages faster.
Applications
With a 65 V DC rating, WHM0082VA suits low-voltage DC inputs, not mains.
PLCs and sensors on 24 V supplies see surges from long cables and switched loads; a D14 MOV behind the fuse absorbs them.
Telecom gear often runs from a nominal 48 V feed. Check its top, float charge included, against the 65 V rating of WHM0082VA.
Breaking current in a coil throws a spike that arcs relay contacts; a MOV across the contacts or load absorbs it.

Sourcing
VOOHU supplies D14 metal oxide varistors for surge protection on DC inputs, alongside gas discharge tubes and TVS diodes. The datasheet gives surge ratings the selector omits.

FAQ
Answers on supply, 48 V buses and MOV versus TVS.
The nominal disc diameter of the ceramic body, about fourteen millimetres. It is a mechanical classification for filtering by size and footprint. Actual dimensions, lead spacing and mounting requirements come from the datasheet for the specific part number, not from the size code.
A larger disc has more ceramic volume, so it absorbs more surge energy and degrades more slowly under repeated events. Clamping voltage is set mainly by the voltage class, so two parts of the same class clamp similarly. The trade is board area and lead spacing.
Not automatically. A larger part still has to sit within the available space and lead pitch, and the clamping voltage must still protect what is downstream. Oversizing on energy does not help if the clamping figure at your surge level already exceeds what the circuit survives.
Yes. Disc size changes how many events the part survives, not the end-of-life behaviour. A degraded varistor can fail short and keep dissipating power. On mains lines, pair it with a fuse or thermal cut-out, or specify a thermally protected part.
With a complete part number, send the part number, quantity, delivery region and the date you need it. If you are still selecting, send the line voltage and type, the surge standard and level you must meet, and whether thermal protection is required.
VOOHU supplies them, with the gas discharge tubes and TVS diodes used in staged surge protection. Send your line voltage and surge level, and our FAE team will confirm options.
Often, if the bus never exceeds 65 V, float charge included. A MOV near its rating leaks more and ages faster, and the converter must tolerate the 135 V clamp.
A MOV absorbs more energy for its size but wears with each large surge; a TVS diode clamps faster and lower. DC inputs often use both: the MOV first, then a bidirectional TVS diode.
