JL2201 is a single port gigabit PHY with RGMII on the MAC side and 1000Base-X fibre support, in a QFN48 package at 6 by 6 millimetres. It is the copper and fibre option at gigabit speed in this range.

JL2201 Gigabit Ethernet PHY for copper or fiber
The JL2201 Gigabit Ethernet PHY connects an RGMII MAC to either a twisted-pair copper port or a 1000BASE-X fiber link, for boards that need an optical gigabit option. It also appears as a fiber Ethernet PHY or a 1000BASE-X PHY with an RGMII host. Commercial and industrial grades share a QFN48 package. For copper only, the JL2101 series is smaller; for 2.5G, see JL4201.
RGMII toward the host
The MAC side is RGMII, so clock-to-data delay matters: follow the datasheet on where the delay is added, and length-match the transmit and receive groups.
Commercial or industrial grade
The -NC part covers 0 °C to 70 °C for indoor equipment; the -NI part covers −40 °C to +85 °C for cabinets, outdoor terminals and plant floors.
QFN48 and the line side
The package is QFN48 at 6 × 6 mm. For copper builds, VOOHU also offers Gigabit Ethernet transformers to evaluate between the chip and the RJ45 jack.

Fiber ports on controllers and gateways
PLC communication modules, protection relays and industrial gateways use fiber across noisy plant areas. The -NI grade keeps 1000BASE-X available at −40 °C to +85 °C.
SoC boards with an optical uplink
Embedded boards whose processor offers RGMII can add a gigabit fiber uplink, for example toward an SFP module, without changing the MAC interface.
Copper and fiber builds of one design
Switches and CPE that ship in copper and fiber versions can keep the same Ethernet transceiver and RGMII routing in each build, changing only the line-side parts.

How does JL2201 differ from JL2101?
Both are single port gigabit devices with an RGMII MAC interface. JL2201 adds 1000Base-X fibre support and comes in a larger QFN48 package at 6 by 6 millimetres, against QFN40 at 5 by 5 for the JL2101, which is copper only. Choose on whether you need fibre.
How do I use the 1000Base-X mode?
Configure it as described in the datasheet reference design and pair it with a matching optical module. The external circuit for a fibre port differs from a copper port, so decide which you need during schematic design rather than trying to accommodate both late in layout.
Can it run copper and fibre together?
Whether both modes can operate simultaneously, or switch automatically, depends on the device configuration described in the datasheet. Do not assume both are available at once simply because both are listed. If your design needs a specific arrangement, confirm it with our engineers.
Which temperature grades are available?
The listed parts cover 0 to 70 degrees and minus 40 to 85 degrees, identified by the NC and NI suffixes. Select against the temperature inside the enclosure at the highest rated ambient, including the heat generated by the board itself.
How do I request samples or a quote?

What interface voltage does the JL2201 selector list?
1.8 V for V(if), on the -NC and -NI parts alike. Match the host’s RGMII I/O to it and set the straps per the datasheet; our RJ45 LED and strap check uses this chip as its example.
How does JL2201 compare with the JL4201 2.5G Ethernet PHY?
They share a 6 × 6 mm QFN48 and offer copper plus fiber. JL4201 runs at 2.5G with SGMII and 2500BASE-X; JL2201 stays at 1G with RGMII and 1000BASE-X. Choose by host interface first.
