Eight gigabit ports
Each of the eight gigabit copper ports needs gigabit-rated magnetics and an RJ45 jack; see our gigabit Ethernet transformers. No port is set aside for a host.
Ethernet Interface Chip products
JL6108 provides eight external gigabit ports with no host uplink, in an LQFP128 package measuring 20 by 14 millimetres. Eight gigabit ports concentrate significant power and board area, so plan the thermal design and panel layout early.

Port notation such as 5+1 means five external ports plus one host uplink.
Series overview
The JL6108 Ethernet switch IC switches eight gigabit copper ports among themselves, with no MAC interface for a host processor. That makes it an 8 port gigabit switch IC for unmanaged desktop and rack switches, in an LQFP128 package and a commercial grade. For uplinks and fiber, compare the JL6110 series; for 100M, the JL5108.
Each of the eight gigabit copper ports needs gigabit-rated magnetics and an RJ45 jack; see our gigabit Ethernet transformers. No port is set aside for a host.
JL6108-PC uses LQFP128 at 20 × 14 mm. The JL6107 uses LQFP128 at 14 × 14 mm, so do not reuse its footprint.
The external supply is listed as 1.1 V. Eight active gigabit ports draw more than a 100M design, so size the regulator from the datasheet power figures.
JL6108-PC is rated 0 to 70 °C for offices, homes and equipment rooms. An eight-port gigabit design for −40 to +85 °C points to the industrial grade of the JL6110 series.
Applications
It fits products that need many gigabit ports and no processor on the network.
As an 8 port gigabit switch chip, it suits home and small office switches that link the router with PCs, NAS units, printers and access points.
Lab racks and production test benches can fan one gigabit link out to instruments or units under test through an internal switch board.
A recorder cabinet can join gigabit cameras, the recorder and the site uplink on one switch board within its 0 to 70 °C rating.

Samples are available for evaluation, and selected parts are free of charge. Our FAE team will be glad to confirm the options for your project. For a quotation, tell us the quantity and target build, and we will confirm availability.
When an eight-port gigabit design needs an alternative switch IC, send its part number and datasheet. Our FAE team reviews register and layout differences and points to candidates you can validate with samples before production.
VOOHU is ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certified. Since 2018 VOOHU has supplied more than 1,500 customers, including 150+ listed companies. Our FAE team also reviews eight-port layouts.
FAQ
Sourcing, design files and the 100M alternative.
Products with a dense front panel where the host controller plays no part in forwarding. It keeps the design free of uplink routing. If the product needs management, remote access or host traffic, compare the JL6110 which adds two uplinks and fibre support.
Considerably more than the 20 by 14 millimetre package. Each of the eight gigabit ports needs magnetics and a controlled impedance differential pair to its connector. Plan the port area, the magnetics placement and the panel arrangement before you place the device.
Eight gigabit ports in one package concentrate significant power. Follow the datasheet thermal pad requirements, provide generous copper and via stitching, and plan airflow in the enclosure. Measure the case temperature at full load at the highest rated ambient rather than relying on the rating alone.
Both provide eight external gigabit ports. JL6108 has no uplink and comes in LQFP128 at 20 by 14 millimetres. JL6110 adds two uplinks and 1000Base-X fibre support in a larger TQFP176 at 20 by 20. Decide on uplinks and fibre first.
With a complete part number, send the part number, quantity, delivery region and the date you need it. If you are still selecting, send the external port count and confirm whether the host needs to be on the network.
VOOHU does, as an authorized JLSemi distributor, and quotes JL6108-PC for prototype and production orders. Our FAE team can review the eight port circuits and the power design.
The selector offers the datasheet (PDF) and no 3D model, so model the LQFP128 body and 20 × 14 mm outline from its package drawing.
The JL6108 runs eight gigabit ports in LQFP128 at 20 × 14 mm, listed at 0 to 70 °C. The JL5108 runs 100M in QFN64 at 9 × 9 mm, with commercial and industrial grades.
