EP13 PoE Power Transformers

Compare candidates on the EP13 page for the isolated DC-DC stage of a PoE powered device. Alongside output-voltage and power references, distinguish the main output, auxiliary or synchronous-drive windings, and package requirements. Start with WHEP13779 and WHEPD13002 documents, then review your input, controller and load to define validation needs.

Series overview

EP13 PoE transformer range at a glance

An EP13 PoE transformer carries power through the isolated DC-DC stage of a PoE powered device, from the PD interface to the load rail. It also appears as an EP13 PoE power transformer or EP13 transformer. The range spans 10 W to 30 W, with outputs from 5 V to 24 V. For smaller loads see EP7 PoE transformers; for 30 W and above, compare EFD20 PoE transformers.

01

Power spread

Listed power starts at 10 W on ST1306WH and ST1311WH and reaches 30 W on WH13P-12H. A broad group sits at 12–14 W and another at 24–25.2 W. ST1353WH (18 W) and EP13S-M10 (20 W) fill the gap.

02

Output voltages

12 V is the common EP13 transformer output. Other rails: 5 V on ST1319WH, WH13P-50L and WHEPD13002, 24 V on WH13P-24L, and 13 V, 13.4 V, 13.5 V or 14 V on ST1313WH, ST1378WH, ST1311WH and ST1340WH.

03

Current bands

Current follows power and voltage. ST1306WH and ST1312WH sit in the 0.41–1.0 A band, WH13P-12L and ST1353WH at 1.08–1.99 A, and WHEP13029 and WH13P-12H at ≥ 2 A. WHEPD13002 is listed at 5 A.

04

Sync and auxiliary windings

If your controller needs a synchronous-rectifier drive or an auxiliary winding, shortlist parts whose datasheets show them, such as WHEPD13002 with its Sync and AUX windings. Match each winding’s role and pins to your circuit.

Applications

Where EP13 PoE transformers fit

EP13 PoE transformers cover powered devices that need 10 W to 30 W from the converter.

Cameras

IP cameras with IR or motorized lenses

Cameras that add IR illuminators or motorized lenses need more than a basic 12 V rail. ST1353WH (18 W) and EP13S-M10 (20 W) are 12 V candidates in the 1.08–1.99 A band.

Wireless

Multi-radio access points

Multi-radio access points and outdoor wireless units with a heavier 12 V load can shortlist WHEP13029 and ST1388WH (24 W), WH13P-12H5 (25 W) or WHEP13779 (25.2 W), all at ≥ 2 A.

Industrial

24 V controllers and I/O

Industrial controllers, I/O modules and building automation panels often run from 24 V. WH13P-24L is listed for 24 V at 13 W in the 0.41–1.0 A band, so one cable carries data and power.

Sourcing

EP13 PoE transformer sourcing with VOOHU

VOOHU is a PoE transformer manufacturer with its own magnetics factory in Mianyang. Datasheets and 3D models are published for the EP13 PoE transformers here, and PCB footprints for most of them.

01

Samples and quotes

Samples are available for evaluation, and selected parts are free of charge. Our FAE team will be glad to confirm the options for your project. Quotations need the part number, quantity and production schedule; typical lead time is 7–10 days.

02

Second-source evaluation

For a second source, send the part number and datasheet of the transformer you use now. Our FAE team compares output rail, power, winding roles and footprint, then lists EP13 candidates for you to validate with samples before production.

03

Quality and company

VOOHU is ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certified. VOOHU’s PoE transformers are RoHS and REACH compliant (third-party test reports). Since 2018 VOOHU has supplied more than 1,500 customers, including 150+ listed companies.

FAQ & related guides

EP13 PoE transformer questions

Answers on who makes EP13 parts, the 5 V options and EP13 versus EFD20 at 30 W.

How should I compare WHEP13779 and WHEPD13002 as EP13 candidates?

Both datasheets label a 36–57 V input, but the main outputs are labeled 12 V / 2.1 A and 5 V / 5 A, with different auxiliary and synchronous-drive arrangements. Start with the required rail, then assess the controller, load, windings and package. Similar power does not establish interchangeability.

Are WHEP13779's N1 and N3 two independent 12 V outputs?

Not in the documented arrangement. The connection diagram groups N1 and N3 as the main secondary and requires pins 6 and 7, and pins 9 and 10, to be connected on the PCB. The 12 V / 2.1 A label applies to that output, not two separate 2.1 A outputs. Check polarity and pin orientation during layout.

Can WHEPD13002's Sync and AUX windings also supply 5 A?

No. Its diagram labels the main secondary 5 V / 5 A, Sync 5 V / 10 mA, and AUX 10.5 V / 10 mA. Their roles and load labels are different. State the main-load, synchronous-drive and auxiliary-supply requirements separately for an FAE review of the actual circuit.

Does WHEP13779's listed 25.2 W equal the required PoE port power?

They refer to different points in the system. The page value is an output-selection reference for the part, while the path from port input to load includes delivery and DC-DC conversion losses. Check available PD-side power, startup demand and continuous load before assessing the transformer and converter. Do not equate the two figures.

Can parts on the EP13 page share one PCB footprint?

Compare their drawings rather than relying on the page grouping. For example, dimension C is 12.70 mm maximum for WHEP13779 and 14.5 mm maximum for WHEPD13002. Connections and land patterns also require individual checks. Confirm the document revision, pins and installation space before design-in.

Does VOOHU manufacture EP13 PoE transformers itself?

Yes. VOOHU manufactures EP13 PoE transformers in its own magnetics factory in Mianyang, China. Every part on this page has a published datasheet and 3D model, and most also have a PCB footprint for your CAD library.

Which EP13 PoE transformer suits a 5 V rail?

ST1319WH and WH13P-50L are listed for 5 V at 13 W in the ≥ 2 A band. WHEPD13002 is listed for 5 V at 25 W with a 5 A output for heavier loads. Size by continuous 5 V current, then compare windings and drawings.

How does an EP13 transformer compare with EFD20 at 30 W and 12 V?

WH13P-12H on this page and WH300F-12L on the EFD20 PoE transformer page are both listed at 30 W with a 12 V output at ≥ 2 A. Their cores differ, so drawings and land patterns differ too. Choose by board space, then validate with samples.
