What hipot rating and operating temperature range does the WHEP7089 PoE Transformer offer?
The WHEP7089 withstands 1500 VAC hipot from primary to secondary, tested at 50/60 Hz and 5 mA for 1 second. Its operating temperature range is -40°C to +125°C, including the part's own self-heating. Storage is specified at +5°C to +40°C in the original packaging, or 0°C to +85°C for unpackaged components.
What are the primary inductance, leakage inductance and DCR of the WHEP7089?
The WHEP7089 primary (pins 3-4) measures 310 µH ±10% with no more than 6.5 µH of leakage inductance, and maximum DCR is 1.04 Ω for the primary, 0.35 Ω for the secondary and 2.01 Ω for the bias winding. Inductance is measured at 10 kHz, 0.1 Vrms; leakage inductance at 100 kHz, 0.1 Vrms with all other windings shorted. DCR is specified at 25°C.
What are the package dimensions of the WHEP7089, and how should its secondary pins be connected?
The WHEP7089 is an 8-pin part measuring 11.0 × 13.5 × 9.5 mm max, with a 2.5 mm pin pitch. The datasheet also gives a suggested PCB pad layout. Pins 5 & 6 and 7 & 8 of the 12 V secondary must be tied together on the board, and a solder bridge across each pair is acceptable.
