Matching an offset RJ45 connector to the panel
An offset RJ45 connector is a 90° jack for boards whose height inside the enclosure does not suit the panel opening of a standard RJ45 jack. It is also searched for as an offset RJ45 jack, raised RJ45 connector or elevated RJ45 jack. The range covers plain jacks and MagJacks (RJ45 jacks with integrated magnetics) up to 10GBASE-T, SMD or through-hole, mostly single ports. Plain jack or MagJack
Most offset RJ45 jacks here are plain, for discrete magnetics on the board. MagJack versions range from 10/100M, such as the DIP SYT1511B031CB2W7CBD057, to 100/1000M, such as the SMD SYT211Q106DB1A7CBS057, and on up to 10GBASE-T.
Tab direction and LEDs
Tab up is the norm, but tab down parts exist, such as SYTCB861188GWA6SB1075 without LEDs and SYTCB41F1188AB1WA6DB1B075 with Y/G LEDs. Other LED options include G/Y, GO/Y and O/G, so match them to the LED outputs of your PHY.
Temperature grade
Most offset parts are rated −40 °C to +85 °C. SYTCB691188AB1W6DB1075 and the 10/100M MagJack SYT211B083GWA7CBS057 are rated 0 °C to +70 °C, so filter by temperature for outdoor designs.

Designs that need an offset RJ45 connector
Typical cases are a new board in an existing housing, or one housing shared by several board designs.
Routers, gateways and small switches
Gateways can use an SMD offset MagJack such as SYT211Q106AB2A7CBS057 for 100/1000M. Small switches can use WH8701-7248805203, a 1 x 4 offset block with GO/G LEDs, an EMI gasket and a PCB footprint.
Controllers and DIN-rail modules
Controller housings often fix the port height early. SYTCB301188DB1W6DB1075, a through-hole plain jack rated −40 °C to +85 °C with Y/G LEDs, an EMI gasket and a PCB footprint, is a starting point.
Edge PCs and 10G ports
Compact computers that add a 10GBASE-T port in an existing chassis can use SYT211Q639DF5A7CBS1057, an SMD offset MagJack with GO/Y LEDs and an EMI gasket, or SYT211Q744AB1A7CBS1359 with Y/G LEDs.

What problem does an offset connector solve?
A mechanical one. The enclosure aperture is often fixed by the industrial design while the board position is constrained by everything else inside. An offset housing shifts the port opening vertically relative to the board so the two line up without redesigning either the panel or the board stack.
How do I confirm the offset is right?
Work from the drawing. Take the panel aperture centre height from the enclosure design, subtract the board's mounting height, and compare the result with the connector's stated offset dimension. Do this before the board layout is fixed, because the footprint changes with the housing.
Does the offset affect signal integrity?
The internal contact path is longer than on a standard housing, which matters more as link speed rises. On gigabit and above, verify link quality and return loss on the real board rather than assuming the offset version behaves identically to the standard part.
Are offset versions available shielded?
Availability varies by part. Check the specific part number rather than assuming that every option available on a standard housing carries across to the offset version. If you need a particular combination of offset, shielding and magnetics, send the requirement and our engineers will confirm.
How do I request samples or a quote?
With a complete part number, send the part number, quantity, delivery region and the date you need it. If you are still selecting, send the panel aperture height, the board mounting height and the link speed.
