The WHSG24002TG suits industrial Gigabit ports where the component temperature may fall anywhere between -40 °C and +85 °C. Typical uses are DIN-rail industrial switches, Gigabit access ports inside outdoor enclosures, shop-floor gateways and wide-temperature edge equipment. The WHSG24002TG is a single-port, non-PoE 100/1000 BASE-T transformer, so the port has to be powered locally.
The lower figure is the operating limit of the component, not a demonstrated cold-start capability for the finished product – low-temperature power-up still has to be measured with the target PHY and cable. Other options are listed in the 100/1000 BASE-T range.
No. The datasheet assigns no DC balance current capability to the centre taps of the WHSG24002TG, so they cannot be used as a supply path. There is no current item among its electrical entries. Terminate the centre taps according to the reference design for the target PHY.
The 8 mA DC bias on the OCL line is a direct current superimposed during the inductance measurement, not a permitted operating current, and the two cannot be converted into one another. Where a wide-temperature port also has to deliver power, send VOOHU the target wattage, current and temperature range and we will reselect from the 100/1000 BASE-T range.
Decide on operating temperature: take the WHSG24002TG for -40 °C to +85 °C, or the WHSG24002G where 0 °C to +70 °C is enough. The two are identical value for value on mechanical dimensions, suggested land pattern, pin-to-net assignment and every electrical figure, so switching between them does not change the electrical design.
There is one small difference in how the documents are written: the datasheet of the WHSG24002TG carries an extra RoHS compliance line that the other does not print. That is a documentation difference rather than a selection criterion; ask VOOHU for the compliance paperwork when a formal declaration is needed. Both parts sit in the 100/1000 BASE-T range.
