FAQ LAN Transformer: WHD12401G
Why are the PCB hole patterns of WHD12401G and WHD12501G incompatible even though both are 12PIN devices with 2.00 mm pitch?
WHD12401G has 5.00 mm row spacing, an approximately 13.05 ± 0.50 mm × 7.80 ± 0.50 mm body, and a maximum height of 7.50 mm. WHD12501G has 4.80 mm row spacing, an approximately 14.00 mm × 7.70 mm body, and a height of about 6.00 mm. Their hole locations, outlines, and heights all differ, so they cannot share a footprint.
How should the 38 pcs/tube packaging of WHD12401G be used in purchasing quantities and line-side replenishment calculations?
The model is packed 38 pcs/tube, 3420 pcs/inner carton, and 13680 pcs/outer carton. Purchasing should use 38 pieces as the full-tube unit when evaluating opened-tube balance. Production should include partial quantities, changeover loss, and bent-pin screening in line-side stock. These package quantities are logistics conversions, not the supplier's minimum order quantity.
Can the 8 mA biased-inductance specification of WHD12401G be used as evidence for power delivery beyond a non-PoE port?
No. The 350 μH minimum is an open-circuit inductance result measured at 100 kHz, 0.1 V, and 8 mA DC bias, and is used to verify magnetizing characteristics. WHD12401G is specified for non-PoE applications, and 8 mA is not an available power current. Any powered-port design requires a component with explicit current, temperature-rise, and standards-compliance data.
