The datasheet states PoE Support 60W for the WHSG24702PG, with 600 mA of DC balance current per magnetic channel and 1200 mA across full channels. The 1200 mA figure is what one Ethernet port carries with its two channels working together – twice the per-channel value, not 600 mA multiplied by the coil count.
Size four balanced copper paths against 600 mA each, taking the width from your actual copper thickness and permitted rise. Note also that 60W is a device-side power class printed on the datasheet of the WHSG24702PG, not a guarantee of what reaches the powered device once cable and PSE losses are taken out. More options are listed in the 100/1000 BASE-T range.
Mechanically yes, electrically no. The WHSG24702PG and the WHSG24701G share one suggested land pattern and one pin-to-net assignment, but only the WHSG24702PG carries a current rating. Fit the WHSG24701G in that position and the port can no longer deliver power, because its datasheet assigns no DC balance current capability to the centre taps.
Going the other way is harmless: the WHSG24702PG drops into a position that carries no power, it simply costs more than it needs to. This is the point to watch across this package – a shared land pattern is not shared capability, so check current, isolation and temperature item by item before changing parts.
That depends on where the port sits: 0 °C to +70 °C is the operating range of the component itself, and the WHSG24702PG is published without any temperature-rise qualifier, so the ambient your enclosure runs at is a separate question that measurement has to settle. Indoor PoE switches and in-building access points are usually comfortable inside it.
For an industrial cabinet, an outdoor pole mount or a hot equipment room, move to the wide-temperature WHSG24706-1PTG, which uses the same package and the same suggested land pattern as the WHSG24702PG. Measure the body temperature of the part in the finished unit under full PoE load either way, since the datasheet range is a device limit and not an equipment-level verification.
