WHSM48701G 10GBASE-T LAN Transformer

Two. The WHSM48701G is a 48-pin dual-port 10G BASE-T transformer, so one part covers two ports. Against two single-port 24-pin devices it uses less board area and fewer placements, which suits designs with high port density.

The magnetic channels for both ports of the WHSM48701G sit in one package, so route and terminate each differential pair on its own as you would with separate parts. Other single and dual-port options are in the 10G BASE-T range.

No. The datasheet assigns no DC balance current capability to the centre taps of the WHSM48701G, so the taps on neither port can be used as a supply path. The WHSM48701G provides signal transformation and isolation for two 10G BASE-T ports, and the ports are powered by the equipment itself.

If either port has to deliver power, move to a part that publishes a DC balance current figure, such as the single-port WHSM24P03-2PG. For a dual-port part with PoE, send us the per-port current, port count and temperature you need and we will reselect.

The WHSM48701G suits indoor dual-port 10G equipment where the component temperature stays between 0 °C and +70 °C. Typical uses are twin switch uplinks, dual-port server and NAS adapters, and 10G aggregation cards inside racks. The WHSM48701G carries no PoE rating, so both ports are powered by the equipment itself.

The -40 °C to +85 °C storage range is what the part survives unpowered and is not an operating condition; for power-up below 0 °C or long-term use in an outdoor enclosure, choose a part rated over the wide temperature range.
