Does the additional cable-side common-mode filter stage in WHS16503G guarantee that the finished product will pass EMI testing?

No. The internal topology of WHS16503G includes an additional cable-side common-mode filtering path, which provides component-level support for common-mode noise suppression. Actual EMI performance still depends on PHY drive characteristics, Bob Smith termination, RJ45 shield grounding, the common-mode return path, and PCB layout. Compliance must be determined from conducted- and radiated-emissions testing of the assembled board.

How should the signal specifications of WHS16503G be converted into component acceptance limits for a 10/100BASE-T link?

For component acceptance, insertion loss from 1 to 100 MHz should have a magnitude no greater than 1.1 dB, while crosstalk attenuation and common-mode rejection should each have a magnitude of at least 30 dB. Apply return-loss limits by frequency band: at least 18 dB from 1 to 30 MHz, 14.4 dB at 40 MHz, 13.1 dB at 50 MHz, and 12 dB from 60 to 80 MHz. Channel-level system validation is still required separately.

Can WHS16503G share a PCB footprint with another 16PIN, 1.27 mm-pitch device that has a similar outline?

Do not rely only on the 16PIN count and 1.27 mm pitch. WHS16503G has an approximately 12.70 ± 0.50 mm × 6.85 ± 0.50 mm body, a height of 4.95 ± 0.50 mm, and an internal network with an additional common-mode stage. Before sharing a footprint, compare the pad span, pin definitions, internal schematic, and component height. A mismatch in any one of these areas rules out direct substitution.
