The body stands 4.95 mm ±0.50 mm, between the 5.65 mm standard parts and the 2.50 mm low-profile parts.

The WHS16503G body is 12.70 × 6.85 mm, 9.50 mm across the leads, on 1.27 mm pitch with an 8.89 mm span and a 0.75 mm foot. Where clearance sits near 5 mm and the standard specification is still wanted, this part fills that gap. Its recommended land pattern is not identical to the 12.80 × 6.90 mm family, so redraw it from this part's own drawing before changing.

Going lower costs nothing electrically — all three hold the same two transformer units per port with no reduction in insertion or return loss. What matters is that the range of specifications narrows as the profile drops: the standard height covers wide-temperature, high-isolation, automotive and extended-temperature parts; the low profile has a wide-temperature part (WH16603T1, -40 °C to +105 °C) but no high-isolation or automotive option; the mid height currently comes only in the standard grade. So the order is: check the temperature and qualification requirement first, then whether that height fits. Both are listed per part in the 10/100 BASE-T range.

The signal enters the WHS16503G from the chip side, passes the transformer first and the choke second, then reaches the cable side. That order shapes the common-mode path, and parts with the choke on the chip side also exist in the family — even where outline and termination count match, a change between them calls for EMC to be re-verified, because the parameter table does not show this difference.

Indoor 100M port equipment where the component temperature stays between 0 °C and +70 °C and chassis clearance sits around 5 mm.

The WHS16503G is surface-mount, 12.70 × 6.85 mm and 4.95 mm high, reflow-assembled. It carries no PoE, so the port is powered locally. Where equipment must power up below 0 °C, or needs an automotive claim or higher isolation, this height has no matching grade and the standard-height family is the route — which takes the profile to 5.65 mm and needs a mechanical re-check.
